Last nights dinner...

To end the night on a good note after a disappointing LSU loss...

Medium rare venison cutlets sliced thin length-wise, with steamed butternut squash, quinoa, and steamed broccoli. Also made an A-1, Worcestershire, and Green Jalapeno tabasco sauce to drizzle over the cutlets.

And of course had a six-pack of Michelob Ultra pure gold to numb the senses.

What do y'all make for dinner?

I’m with you bro.

We’ve been doing the Atkins diet for 5 yrs now with a cheat meal once a week, which is typically MX food because that’s what she wants... i’m not really a fan. I prefer a big ass calzone or a nice stuffed pizza.

i had a heart attack in January and had to revamp my entire lifestyle.

so most of what i would normally eat is no longer on the menu.
i quit smoking.
cut back on the drinking.
and walk a lot more than i had been.

i just turned 40 in October and am not even close to overweight so i never saw it coming.

Wow bro sorry to hear but glad like hell you made it through it.

I used to be a body builder (did all the things that came with it too), then I destroyed my shoulder. Afterwards, not being able to lift but still eating like I lifted, I got fat as phuck.

We decided to start doing Atkins after I turned 39 in the Spring of ‘14. Diabetes and heart problems runs in the gene pool for the men in my family. Decided to make changes before it was too late.

i was always an athlete so stayed in pretty good shape.
5’ 8” and a lean but relatively solid 150#

body is physically beat down from years and years of abuse on the field, but never any health issues in my entire life.

like rarely even a cold.
even my attack never had any of the classic symptoms. no chest pain, no shortness of breath.

just felt like i was going to pass out. started sweating and then felt absolutely exhausted.

ekg, blood pressure, oxygen levels, x-rays all came back normal.

an enzyme in my blood work tipped them off.

2 procedures and 3 stents later i feel pretty good.
the diet sucks ass, but the quitting smoking has been a positive.

Quitting tobacco is huge. I smoked for years, quit, and started dipping. Dipped for almost 15 years, at one point was dipping almost 3 cans a day. July 1st will be a year since I have had absolutely zero nicotine in my body in decades.

I too was always in shape and lean... was an athlete most of my life. Shit happens. Now I am 44 yo, look great and feel too old to do most anything but drink beer and boil crawfish.

I'm 71 and smoked for most of my adult life. I quit after LSU won the BCS championship in 2007. I've been off the liquor for about 6 months. Can't say the same for beer. My Doc's not happy but I told her I've give up a lot of stuff, but I'm going to have a couple of beers a day.

is there a reason you quit smoking after the title?
or is that just an easy way to remember the year you quit?

I had been wanting to quit for a while. Towards the end of the season I made a commitment that if LSU won the title I would quit. Quitting cold turkey wasn't easy, but I stuck with it and have been tobacco free for 11+ years.

And we haven't won a title since. Go ahead and take one for the team. Start smoking again.

Just to get back on topic sort of..has anyone ever had Green Olives stuffed with Jalepenos? Instead of pimentos, it's jalepeno. Haven't opened them yet.

I have know idea what these taste like. My wife picked up some of these yesterday.

I don't like green olives but I like jalapenos stuffed with cheese.

I do like the olive mix they use to make a muffeleto.

Yeah, like the Jalepenos stuffed with cheese too. But not sure about green olives with Jalepenos. Seems like an odd combo..
