Of course the difference is the strength if schedules being played these days. Look at the 2011 team. 8 Top 25 teams beaten by LSU, 3 of them finished in the Top 5, not just visiting Top 10 teams. (#3 Oregon, #1 Bama, #5 Arkansas) Where's Arky these days?

2019 is not even remotely close having 8 ranked teams on the schedule. Nowadays, we play about 4. (Texas, Florida, Auburn & Bama)

Point being, LSU was certainly not sitting behind Bama & unemployed Urban Meyer, in beating Top teams 8 years ago. I blame the soft scheduling for that. Maybe that's the key to winning dem Championships though, scheduling easier teams.
